Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day.

After we ate and rested, I decided to take Cami, Ian and Alex on a little adventure in search of a Mother's Day Gift.  That would give Dana some time to unpack and organize as well.  We went to a department store, AEON, several blocks from our hotel.  We wanted to find an air mattress since we were soon to be one bed short and then we had thought of flowers or another gift.  We walked to AEON and then walked around the four story store.  We eventually learned that they do not sell air mattresses (or my translated question in Chinese was not understood) and after much searching we finally did find flowers.  Since it was also mother's day in China, the flower selection wasn't plentiful, but we did find a nice bouquet and then we headed back.  We stopped at Starbucks on the way back and Cami got Dana some powered caramel latte and we added a Guangzhou coffee mug that she had eyed up earlier.

When we got back, the kids gave Dana her flowers.  The concierge/reception desk on our floor even arranged for a vase for the flowers.  Cami kept the latte and mug for a Monday surprise since it was a bit late for coffee.  While we were gone, Dana had met our new neighbors, the McCarthy's.  Their family is here to adopt Matthew, an eight year old boy they met last summer.  Dana already "knew" the mom Michele through her Facebook group.  The McCarthy's currently have three children - Robert, Daniel and Andrew ages 14, 13, and 8.  There family is home schooled as well and felt God calling them into this adoption process in a similar way we felt called.  Ben enjoyed hanging out with Robert and Daniel and Ian connected with Andrew.  Cami later commented, "It feels like we already know them."

Now it's off to bed as we get ready for tomorrow - gotcha day.  First up is a trip to the bank, then we're off to meet Wen De.
