Jet Lag

For Monday evening, Cami had arranged dinner with her friend Doyun and her family.  Doyun visited Madison three years ago on an English immersion program.  She and Cami became friends and have stayed in touch.

The assortment of food was amazing and delicious.

So after our time at COEX mall, we were all feeling tired so we decided to go back to the guest house and catch a short nap, with the plan to leave our guest house around 4:30pm so we could find the restaurant well in advance of our 6:30pm appointment.  We set our alarms and figured we'd be up and ready in plenty of time.  Well, we were tired and didn't wake up until 6:45pm horrified that we were already late.  We got everyone ready and dashed out the door.  Cami got onto Google Hangouts and told Doyun we were still coming.  As we hit the street, we realized we the weather had changed.  The warm sun had been replaced with a light, steady rain.  We headed to the subway station but thought we might be better off hailing a cab since we didn't know the exact location.  But as we headed down the street, we realized grabbing a cab wasn't going to be quick and simple.  In desperation, we asked some passerby if they knew the best way to the restaurant.  They helped us find directions and even called the restaurant so could arrange a meeting point.  We finally did grab a cab and got to the meeting point to find Doyun and her father waiting for us.  Her father graciously bought us some umbrellas and led us to the restaurant where we proceeded to feast on a table full of Korean food.  It was an amazing assortment of food as you can see in the picture.  We were thankful for the kindness of the strangers who helped us find our way and for the kindness and graciousness of Doyun and her family.  Doyun's father even escorted us back to our guest house - in the rain.  We have been consistently impressed by the kindness, generosity and hospitality of the Korean people.
